My work has always focused on natural settings. Growing up against a stretch of forest in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, I was taught at a young age the intricacies that exist between humans and the environments we share. My work focuses on the tensions, the contradictions, the rarities, and the tenderness that occur within these shared spaces -- from the micro level of the backyard and the relationships we have with our pets, to the macro of national land management and species conservation. I use my background in Classical Studies to incorporate mythical elements into the work, creating dreamlike outcomes that strike emotional responses in those who view it. I hope my work will encourage others to look closer and to contemplate longer the ways in which we cohabit environments with those of us non-human.
